The National Ulema and Mashaikh Council Pakistan, under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, has announced the observance of Namaz and Zakat Week nationwide to promote the Nizam-e-Salat and Zakat system in Pakistan. The decision made in an official meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yusuf in Islamabad.
The official statement shows that the Council meant to enhance the system of prayer and zakat among communities and mosques, with religious scholars playing the role of directing social harmony and moral discipline. The Namaz and Zakat Week 2025 will aim at encouraging a sense of collective responsibility, ethical education, and sensitization of social principles in line with sermons and religious meetings.
The Council instructed that hate speech, sectarianism, and divisive subjects should not preached in any religious sermon. It also declared that fatwas will not be misinformation since only established religious institutions allowed to issue them in Pakistan. The use of social media and responsible online usage will be promoted through the introduction of public awareness campaigns.
The meeting also decided to reorganize the Nizam-e-Salat Committee to implement prayer systems effectively at local levels. Scholars and imams will emphasize Islam’s social teachings related to education, cleanliness, rights of women and children, and public welfare.
The participants expressed appreciation for the leadership of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Pakistan Armed Forces, and welcomed the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defense agreement as a step toward strengthening ties between the two nations.
