Pakistan Banks Closed for Public on 1st Ramadan for Zakat Deduction

The State Bank of Pakistan has announced a ‘Bank Holiday’ on the first day of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, 1445 A.H., which is expected to fall on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. This day will be observed for the purpose of Zakat deduction, as per the official notification from the central bank.

On this day, all banks, Development Financial Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) across the country will not be open for public dealing. However, it’s important to note that this is not a day off for the employees of these financial institutions. They will be expected to attend their offices as usual, treating it as a normal working day.

As Pakistan gears up for the holy month of Ramadan, it’s anticipated that the blessed period will begin on March 12, 2024. According to weather expert Jawad Memon, the moon marking the start of Ramadan will be born on March 10, but it will not be visible until March 11.
