Pakistan Bans Afghan Drivers Without Visa at All Border Crossings

Pakistan has taken measures by issuing a visa requirement for every Afghan driver entering the trade routes of the country. According to the official announcement that was made on August 1, 2025, no more Afghanistan drivers will be permitted with an invalid visa. The ruling has been used in all the Pakistan-Afghanistan things of trade.

However, Afghan cargo vehicles will be allowed temporary entry based on transit documents until August 31, 2025. This move follows a one-year deadline previously given by the Ministry of Commerce to Afghan transporters for obtaining proper documentation.

In a separate development, Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce has extended the validity of expired Transit Agreement Documents (TADs) for Afghan-registered vehicles until August 31, 2025. The extension was approved on the recommendation of the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul (PAREP Kabul).

From August 1, 2025, only Afghan drivers and cleaners with valid visas will be granted entry. The Online Driver Registration (ODR) system has also been activated from the same date to regulate movement.

The Ministry of Commerce has directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Directorate of Transit Trade to ensure full implementation of these rules for smooth operations at all Pakistan-Afghanistan trade entry points.
