In a recent announcement, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning concerning imminent heavy rainfall and snowfall across multiple regions of the country. Scheduled for February 19, Pakistan is set to experience a bout of inclement weather, with various areas expected to be affected.
Primarily, cloudy skies accompanied by rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall are forecasted to blanket the nation. Notably, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are anticipated to witness rainfall interspersed with occasional snow. Meanwhile, the Potohar region, Punjab, and northern Balochistan are bracing for rainfall coupled with hailstorms.
As for Islamabad and its environs, intermittent rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms are on the horizon. Conversely, southern Balochistan is likely to experience dry weather in most districts, though specific areas may see bouts of rain and occasional snowfall.
In the southern province of Sindh, dry weather conditions are expected, complemented by strong winds. Punjab, on the other hand, is slated for rain accompanied by strong winds across various districts such as Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Kasur. Additionally, the picturesque locales of Murree and its surroundings are gearing up for potential snowfall.
Northern areas including GB and Kashmir are set to endure intermittent rain, strong winds, and snowfall. KP, too, is poised for rain accompanied by robust winds, with heavy precipitation or snowfall anticipated in higher altitudes.
Given the severity of the impending weather conditions, residents are strongly advised to take precautionary measures and remain indoors whenever possible. Moreover, areas in northern Pakistan such as Murree, Swat, Shangla, and others may face disruptions and road closures due to adverse weather. Landslides are also a concern, particularly in Murree, Kashmir, GB, and upper regions of KP.
