Pakistan Election 2018: Rauf Siddiqui steps down to favor GDA in NA-213

Nawabshah: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) candidate Abdul Rauf Siddiqui stepped down to favor GDA in NA-213 before Pakistan Election 2018.

One-week before Pakistan Election 2018, Rauf Siddiqui stepped down in favor of GDA candidate Sardar Sher Mohammad Rind from NA-213. Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) is a newly formed political alliance which could give a tough time to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in General Election 2018.

NA-213 is one of the key constituencies in Pakistan Election 2018. Former President of Pakistan and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is also contesting election from this constituency. In addition, Dr Qadir Magsi from Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (STP) is also a strong candidate.

MQM-P announced the withdrawal of its candidate from NA-213 to give tough time to PPP and Asif Ali Zardari. However, the decision was revealed at Nawabshah’s Manoabad neighbourhood in yesterday’s corner meeting. Now, GDA and MQM-P are both hopeful to defeat PPP in NA-213.

Asif Ali Zardari is contesting election for national assembly seat after the long duration of 25 years. Last time, he was elected as MNA in Pakistan Election 1993. However, he served as President of Pakistan for five years from 2008 to 2013.
