Pakistan Navy inducts indigenously built PNS Moawin


Pakistan Navy indcucted indigenously built PNS Moawin on Tuesday (yesterday).

PNS Moawin is commissioned in the fleet during the ceremony held at Pakistan Navy Dockyard. However, it is an indigenously built 17,000-tonne fleet tanker.

Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, and President Dr Arif Alvi attended the ceremony.

According to sources, PNS Moawin is the largest warship ever constructed at the Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KSEW). However, it is developed in the collaboration with M/s Savunma Teknologiler Muhendisilik (STM) of Turkey.

It is capable of performing several maritime operations. However, it includes the provision of logistic support to other ships present at sea. The logistic support can be provided through transfer of fuel and other important military cargo. It can also carry 2 helicopters

PNS Moawin is also equipped with state of the art medical facilities. However, it can provide overseas support to friendly countries during any Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.
