Pakistan Punjab Floods: Schools to Remain Closed for Staff and Student Safety

All public and private educational institutions in Sialkot are closed in August 29 and 30 due to the continuing Punjab floods. The order was given by the Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali in precautionary measures to save students, teachers, and staff during the flood crisis.

Flood Update: Torrential Rain Shuts Schools

The latest flood update from Sialkot reports record torrential rain with over 363 mm of rain in 24 hours. There are submerged low-lying places such as Rang Pura, Shahab Pura, Dara Arain, Allama Iqbal Chowk and Prem Nagar. Spillage at the Nullah Dek has caused evacuation and the authorities have even closed schools until the waters subside.

Punjab Floods: Government Response

The Punjab floods emergency has prompted NDMA warnings and immediate evacuation orders for residents in vulnerable areas. The Punjab Health Minister visited Sialkot to oversee relief operations. Roads and bridges are being restored, and hospitals are on high alert. Residents are urged to follow official instructions during this flood update.

As schools in Sialkot and Gujrat are closed, officials have told off the public holidays in the impacted states. It is recommended that students should remain at home and all exams and academic activities have to be postponed.
