Pakistan Railway Offices to Remain Closed on Ashura (July 17)

Pakistan Railways has announced that all railway offices will be closed on July 17. This decision is to honor the 10th of Muharram. Normal operations will resume after July 17. This closure includes all railway reservation offices.

The federal government has also declared public holidays on July 16 and 17 for Youm-e-Ashura. These holidays, marking the 9th and 10th of Muharram, were approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Following his approval, the Cabinet Division issued a notification stating that all private and government offices will be closed during these dates.

This time of the year, the start of the new Islamic year and month, sees various Majalis and processions across the country to commemorate the martyrs of Karbala. Both federal and provincial governments take special security measures to ensure safety during these events.
