Pakistan Railways has announced the operation of a special train catering specifically to pilgrims on the 8th of Muharram. The special train route will run from Tando Adam to Rohri, with departure scheduled at 2:00 PM from Tando Adam. This initiative aims to facilitate pilgrims traveling for religious observances during this significant period.
Simultaneously, the Punjab Department of Interior has taken measures to ensure security and public safety during Muharram. They have instructed mobile phone service suspensions in several districts across the province. This precautionary step, sanctioned by the federal secretary of interior and the zonal director of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), will be effective on the 7th and 10th of Muharram in specific sensitive areas.
The districts where complete mobile phone service suspensions will be implemented include Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur on the 7th and 10th of Muharram, Rahim Yar Khan on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, Muzaffargarh, DG Khan, Vehari, Toba Tek Singh, Laya Rajanpur on the 10th of Muharram, Nankana, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Mandi Bahauddin, Gujarat, and Mianwali on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. Additionally, Jhang, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi will also experience mobile phone service suspensions on the 7th and 10th of Muharram.
However, mobile phone services will remain operational in 17 districts of Punjab, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity in areas such as Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sargodha, Khushab, Chiniot, Multan, Khanewal, Vehari, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, and Lodhran during this period.
This coordinated effort by Pakistan Railways and the Punjab Department of Interior underscores their commitment to facilitating peaceful observances of Muharram while ensuring public safety and security across the region.
