Pakistan Railways has announced a revised ticket refund policy for passengers, covering both POS counter purchases and online bookings. The new policy ensures a structured refund process based on the time of ticket cancellation before train departure.
Refund Policy for POS Counter Ticket Purchases
According to the latest notification, passengers who bought tickets from Point of Sale (POS) counters can get a refund under the following conditions:
- 90% refund if canceled at least 48 hours before departure.
- 80% refund if canceled between 24 to 48 hours before departure.
- 70% refund if canceled within 24 hours of departure.
- 50% refund if canceled within two hours before departure.
Full Refund in Case of Train Cancellation or Long Delays
Passengers will be entitled to a full refund if the train is canceled or delayed for more than six hours. The refund can be claimed from the POS counters, provided passengers present their original ticket along with a copy of their national identity card (CNIC).
Online Ticket Refund Policy
For passengers who purchased tickets online, refunds will be processed digitally through the same service provider used during booking. The refund structure for online bookings is identical to POS counter purchases. However, no refund will be available after the train has departed.
Additionally, online ticket cancellations will not be allowed if the departure time is less than 1 hour and 30 minutes away.
Pakistan Railways Ensuring Passenger Convenience
This new ticket refund policy by Pakistan Railways aims to enhance passenger convenience and provide clear guidelines for ticket cancellations. Travelers are encouraged to plan their cancellations ahead of time to maximize refunds and avoid last-minute inconveniences.
