Pakistan Railways Unveils Cutting-Edge ‘Premium Lounge’ Dining Car at Lahore Railway Station
In a significant development, Pakistan Railways’ Chief Executive Officer, Amir Baloch, inaugurated the state-of-the-art ‘Premium Lounge,’ a revolutionary dining car stationed at Lahore Railway Station. The inauguration ceremony marked the beginning of efforts to enhance facilities, with a particular focus on upgrading dining services.
Baloch, addressing the media, highlighted Pakistan Railways’ unwavering commitment to elevating food and beverage standards, ensuring value for money, and overall enhancing the passenger experience in the newly designed dining car. The ‘Premium Lounge’ is initially attached to the Bahauddin Zakariya Express, with plans to extend this upgrade to the Hazara Express in the subsequent phase.
Despite facing resource constraints, Baloch assured passengers of receiving top-notch facilities. He revealed that the project had been finalized on a ‘Develop-and-run’ basis, with the cooperation of a private partner, demonstrating a collaborative effort to improve services.

Responding to queries, Amir Baloch revealed that the Lahore dining car contract spans one year and includes bedding services for passengers at an affordable rate of Rs 250 each. Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness, he underscored the crucial role of the dining car operator in maintaining hygiene standards.
The CEO highlighted the primary goal of providing fare relief to passengers and mentioned ongoing discussions regarding the financial terms of the ML-1 project, demonstrating a broader commitment to improving the overall railway infrastructure.
Within the newly unveiled dining car, up to 45 passengers can dine simultaneously, enjoying a diverse menu featuring more than 40 dishes. This initiative signifies a step forward in Pakistan Railways’ mission to offer a modern and comfortable dining experience while prioritizing passenger satisfaction.
