Pakistan is going to release 360 Indian prisoners whose jail term is now completed.
360 Indian prisoners in which 355 are fishermen while 5 are civilians will be released in April 2019. Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal revealed that 360 Indian prisoners will be released in 4 different batches beginning from April 8.
Due to the rocky relations between the two sides, prisoners who have completed their jail terms often languish in each other’s jails for months, if not years, afterwards.
According to the lists exchanged by both sides in January, there are 347 Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails, 249 of whom are what the spokesman described as civilians and 98 fishermen. There are 537 Indian prisoners in Pakistani jails, 483 of whom are fishermen.
On February 27, PAF shot down two Indian aircrafts inside Pakistani airspace. One of the aircraft fell inside AJ&K while other fell inside IOK. Pakistan also captured the Indian pilot but later released him as a gesture of peace.
A day before, Indian aircraft invaded the Line of Control but forced to return after the timely response by Pakistan Air Force.
Earlier in February, Pulwama attack resulted in the death of 44 Indian soldiers. Since, India is blaming Pakistan for the terrorist attack.
