Quetta-based Pakistani Dr. Alia Haider has been honored with the prestigious Frontline Climate Health Award at a global environmental conference held in Dubai. The award recognizes her outstanding contributions to climate health and her dedication to addressing environmental challenges.
Dr. Alia Haider, hailing from the Hazara community in Quetta, began her educational journey at the Nasl-e-Nou Hazara School. She later earned her MBBS from the FGSI Islamic Girls College in Quetta and continued her medical studies in China.
Returning to Pakistan, Dr. Haider commenced her medical career in Lahore, actively engaging in both medical and environmental spheres. Her commitment to environmental and social causes recently garnered attention when she won the Frontline Climate Health Award.
Despite being based in Lahore presently, Dr. Alia Haider’s heart remains in Quetta, where her family resides. Her sister, Jalila Haider, is a prominent lawyer and advocate for social and human rights.
In 2022, Dr. Alia Haider organized free medical camps in flood-affected regions of Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab, extending crucial medical services to those in need. This recognition underscores her significant efforts in addressing climate-related health challenges and providing essential healthcare in disaster-stricken areas.
