Pakistani Passenger Flown to Wrong Country Sues Airline Over Flight Error

A passenger traveling from Lahore to Karachi on July 7, 2025, was mistakenly boarded on an international AirSial flight to Jeddah. The passenger, Shahzain Ahmed, has issued a legal notice to the airline under the Sindh Consumer Protection Act 2014.

The incident occurred at Lahore Airport when two AirSial flights—one domestic to Karachi and the other international to Jeddah—were parked at the same gate. Due to operational confusion, Shahzain was allowed to board the wrong aircraft without passport or visa. The error was discovered two hours into the flight.

Upon arrival in Jeddah, Saudi immigration authorities detained and questioned the passenger. He was later returned to Lahore, where he arranged a separate ticket to Karachi at his own expense. His luggage was sent separately, and no assistance was provided by the airline.

A legal notice filed by Advocate Muhammad Nawaz Dahri on behalf of the passenger cites violations of the Sindh Consumer Protection Act 2014, Pakistan Civil Aviation Rules 1994, Immigration Ordinance 1979, and the Montreal Convention. The notice demands full reimbursement of travel expenses and a written response within two days.

Pakistan Airports Authority has recommended regulatory action against the airline. The Civil Aviation Authority has been notified, and an internal investigation is ongoing.
