At least five children died and one woman injured in separate rain-related incidents in Swat district following ongoing monsoon rains.
In Madian’s Gujar Band Shanko area, the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rain. Three children were killed and one woman was injured. The injured was immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment.
In a separate incident in Malam Jabba’s Sur Dherai area, two young brothers were swept away in a rain-fed stream. Rescue teams recovered their bodies and handed them over to the family.
Due to continuous monsoon rainfall in Swat, water levels in seasonal streams and the Swat River have risen sharply. Authorities have urged residents to avoid low-lying areas and stay alert.
