Pakpattan DPO Transfer Case: SC seeks report on political interference


Islamabad: Supreme Court began the hearing of Pakpattan DPO transfer case on Monday.

CJP Saqib Nisar led bench is hearing the Pakpattan DPO transfer case today. However, the transfer of DPO Rizwan Gondal is allegedly connected with his altercation with Khawar Maneka.

Khawar Maneka is the former husband of Bushra Bibi who is now the wife of PM Imran Khan.

Earlier, Apex Court questioned the timing of Rizwan Gondal’s transfer and summoned Khawar Maneka. The court also summoned Ahsan Jameel Gujjar, DIG Shehzada Sultan, Ibrahim Maneka, Usman Buzdar’s personal secretary and his chief security officer.

During the hearing, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Kaleem Imam elaborated the court that he didn’t have written orders file of DPO’s transfer. CJP Saqib Nisar inquired that why no action was taken against Ahsan Gujjar.

Saqib Nisar said that people should not summon police officers to their homes and insult them. However, Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal said that Ahsan Gujjar questioned him for not executing instructions he was sent.

Later, Punjab IGP left him at Supreme Court’s mercy. He elaborated the court that he had to create a post-dated written order of DPO transfer. CJP Saqib Nisar then demanded to see the post-dated order. However, Punjab IGP replied that he did not have the file.
