Joint investigation team or JIT in Pakpattan shrine case revealed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan that the land was allotted to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
In Pakpattan shrine case, JIT probe revealed that PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif is responsible for the illegal transfer of shrine land. However, he did it when he was CM Punjab in 1985.
The three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan and Justice Faisal Arab is hearing a case.
Last month, CJP suggested at constituting a joint investigation team (JIT) to investigate a shrine land case. The shrine land case concerns allotment of Auqaf property attached to the shrine of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masud Ganj Shakar in Pakpattan.
During the last hearing, the bench had summoned the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo to appear before the court to explain his position in the case.
CJP Saqib Nisar suggested to form a JIT to investigate the matter. Nawaz Sharif, however, remarked that his experience with JITs had not particularly been pleasant. Later, the chief justice gave the former premier one week to decide which institution should conduct the probe.
