Amidst a surge in passport applications creating an unprecedented rush at passport offices across Pakistan, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passport has taken proactive measures to address the overwhelming demand.
To accommodate the record numbers of applicants, passport delivery counters will now be operational on weekends nationwide until March 15, 2024. This special provision is particularly aimed at facilitating Hajj pilgrims, who can now visit passport delivery centers on both Saturdays and Sundays until the mid-March deadline.
For those planning international travel, passport offices will be open from 9 am to 1 pm, including Fridays. This extended timing is designed to ensure that individuals seeking passports have ample opportunities to complete their applications. Mustafa Qazi, the Director General of Immigration and Passports, expressed his confirmation of the commencement of passport issuance specifically for Hajj pilgrims nationwide, bringing relief and excitement to the thousands preparing for this sacred journey.
To further assist applicants, regional passport offices are also open on Saturdays, providing additional support for those in need of passport services.
It’s important to note that the passport application process involves biometric verification and submission to banks. The spokesperson emphasized the significance of adhering to deadlines, with the last date for passport submission to banks set for February 26, 2024.
