Leaders of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) have gathered to determine their future plan of action after the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. The meeting, called by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the PDM and the Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F), aims to discuss the coalition’s next steps following the Supreme Court’s decision to release Imran Khan.
During a late-night news conference on Thursday, Maulana Fazl criticized the decision and accused the judiciary of favoring Imran Khan. He claimed that Imran had been given special treatment and protection by the courts despite causing riots and unrest in the country. Maulana Fazl also expressed his frustration with the government’s response to the PTI’s actions, claiming that the PDM had held peaceful protests against the government without resorting to violence or damaging public property.

The PDM’s heads of all parties will discuss their next steps in response to the Supreme Court’s decision and their strategy for the upcoming general elections. Maulana Fazl reiterated that the PDM would not negotiate with Imran Khan, as he had nothing to offer. He called on all political parties in the PDM coalition to remain united and work together to achieve their goals.
The PDM’s meeting is expected to receive significant coverage in Pakistani news outlets and beyond, as political developments in the country often attract international attention. Political analysts will also closely monitor the meeting to understand the direction that the opposition coalition plans to take and how it will affect Pakistan’s political landscape in the future.
