Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) have issued the latest update of flood situation in Pakistan as of 25 July 2025. The Indus River is at medium flood at Chashma and Taunsa whereas the flood is low at Tarballa, Kalabagh, Guddu and Sukkur. The other important rivers such as Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej are flowing within normal margins.
The report also mentions a flash flood warning in DG Khan Division; the warning is because of the potentiality of hill torrent activity. Other parts of Gujranwala, Lahore, DG Khan, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad also face the same situation with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms and rain in 24-hour weather forecast in the upper catchment of the major rivers.
At 0600 PST, the reservoirs stand at the Tarbela Dam at 1532.00 feet (81.74 percent live storage) and Mangla Dam at 1196.00 feet (55.11 percent live storage). The flood forecast 2025 Pakistan demonstrates inflows at the major points: inflows of 430-550 thousand cusecs at the point of Chashma and the levels of 410-430 thousand cusecs at the point of Taunsa that indicate the medium levels of flood. Low or below low flows are experienced in other stations.
The weekly monsoon outlook for 26 July to 1 August indicates subdued activity for the next two days, followed by moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls starting 28 July. This may increase water levels in vulnerable areas.
PDMA advised all concerned departments to monitor river conditions and remain alert. The public is advised to follow PDMA updates, especially in flood-prone areas. Hydrological conditions in major rivers of Pakistan are expected to remain stable for now.
