PM Abbasi Says Nawaz Clarified That Controversial Statement Misreported

ISLAMABAD: PM Abbasi said Nawaz Sharif clarified that his recent statement regarding the Mumbai attacks was misreported by media.

According to PM Abbasi, Nawaz said that his interview with Dawn Newspaper was misinterpreted. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told this to the journalists after the NSC meeting and follow-up meeting with Nawaz Sharif.

PM Abbasi said Nawaz Sharif asserted that he did not say what was reported about the Mumbai attacks. He said that Indian media was misinterpreting the statement given by former premiere and we should not be a part of it. He also said that Nawaz Sharif did not admit to Pakistan’s involvement in Mumbai Attacks of 2008.

PM clarified that the top civil-military body had dismissed those words which were misreported and condemned them, not Nawaz Sharif.

Answering a query on civil-military issues, PM said misunderstandings do occur. He said that they are, however; soon removed when facts are displayed. PM assured that no one is manipulating him, saying it was of his own accord to give the explanatory statement.

Expressing support for Nawaz, Abbasi said the entire party, including Shehbaz Sharif, stands with him.

He said that Nawaz Sharif is still our Quaid.

PM Abbasi said that a few sentences were blown out of proportion and context. He said that he has given clarification of those sentences.

PM Abbasi while answering a question regarding whether he would resign, said he would not. He said that he is not being pressured to resign either and that he will leave office when tenure is finished. He added that the party will finish its term.
