Karachi: PM Khaqan Abbasi will come to Karachi today to solve the issue of prolonged and unannounced load shedding. Prime Minister Pakistan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will come to Karachi to preside over the Cabinet’s energy committee meeting that is being called to resolve the power problem in Karachi.
In this meeting Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to participate along with the federal Minister for Power, Awais Khan Leghari, Advisor Finance Miftah Ismail, CEO K-electric Tayyab Tareen and Managing Director SSGC Ameen Rajput.
After several letters and phone calls from the CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah it seems PM Khaqan Abbasi will be coming to Karachi today to finally put this issue at a rest. The prolonged load shedding is lasting for up-to 10 to 12 hours in areas that were already facing 6 hours of load shedding before this problem. While the areas that did not face this problem before also had to see load shedding for upto 3 to 4 hours a day.
The problem occurred because of outstanding dues of rupees 80 billion over K-electric by the SSGC for providing its power plants with gas. However the K-electric management said that the dues are of only 13 billion rupees and denied to pay the full payment. Because of that SSGC had curtailed gas supply from 190 mmfcd to 90 mmfcd causing a shortfall of power in Karachi.
