PPP PTI Worker Clash: Policemen Engaged in Aerial Firing Arrested


KARACHI: Two policemen were arrested for involvement in aerial firing at the Hakeem Saeed Ground in Karachi on Monday night. Worker of Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf indulged in violent attack on each other on Monday night over venue issue.

Both parties were keen to hold public gathering on May 12th 2018.

Party workers of PPP and PTE had pelted stones and resorted to aerial firing. Violent activities resulted in unrest in the city following the incident.

According to initial report, a video footage is surfaced that shows police officials firing shots from their official weapons on Tuesday.

Constables Nadeem and Arif could be seen standing near the University Road outside the Hakeem Saeed Ground, firing aerial shots. Both officials fired 33 rounds in total.

According to the report, both policemen were part of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Ali Zaidi’s security.

Ali Zaidi later confirmed that his police guards had engaged in aerial firing. He also said that they did so to protect him from the enraged mob.

Case Registered for PPP PTI Worker Clash Incident

A case was registered on Tuesday against violence by members of PTI and PPP in Karachi. 700 workers of both Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were named in the case.
