Demolition of Nasla Tower stopped due to security concerns. SCBA started work without any security measures.
The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) terminates from operating before the demolition of Nasla Tower due to security concerns.
The SBCA had started work on the instructions of Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon. However, It was stopped by Assistant Commissioner Ferozabad Asma Batool due to security concerns.
Batool said, without proper precautions, no demolition can take place as it can harm human lives. Demolition work will be resumed after consultation with higher authorities.
Earlier, the anti-encroachment police of Sindh Board of Revenue cordoned off the building, after which the demolition squad of SBCA started work before demolition.
District East Deputy Commissioner Asif Jan Siddiqui told the media that the doors and windows of the tower were being removed. Anti-encroachment police have been called in to maintain law and order in the area.
The Supreme court had ordered the demolition of the tower due to illegal constructions on Service Road. It asked the builders to return the money to the registered buyers of residential and commercial units within three months.
