The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) now requires all VPN providers to obtain a license. Six firms — Alpha 3 Cubic, Zettabyte, Nexilium Tech, UKI Conic Solutions, and Vision Tech 360 — already hold licenses. From now on, users must register their IP address or mobile number with PTA before using any authorized VPN service.
Pakistan VPN licensing begins under new PTA regime
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) launched a licensing drive for Virtual Private Network (VPN) services under its new Class Value‑Added Service regime. The move ensures users access only legal and secure VPN services.
PTA issued its first VPN licenses to six companies: Alpha 3 Cubic (Steer Lucid), Zettabyte (Crest VPN), Nexilium Tech (Kestrel VPN), UKI Conic Solutions (QuiXure VPN), and Vision Tech 360 (Kryptonyme VPN). These providers now operate legally in Pakistan.
Starting today, any individual wanting a VPN must register either their IP address or mobile number with PTA. Only licensed providers can deliver services for personal or commercial use.
This step brings clear benefits. It helps stop unregulated VPNs from running. It protects user data. It brings legal clarity. It increases cybersecurity across Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.
For VPN users or companies looking to use VPNs, this change matters now. Register your details with PTA. Use only licensed VPNs. That way you stay compliant with national laws.
