Karachi: Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) claimed that it acquired the required Punjab Assembly members to form government in Punjab.
PTI claimed that now it is in a position to form government in Punjab. PTI’s senior leader, Fawad Chaudhry said that the next Chief Minister of Punjab will be from their party. According to sources, PTI also has the support of 8 Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) MPAs.
According to sources, 150 Punjab Assembly members are on PTI’s side. PML-Q may demand the post of deputy Chief Minister for favoring PTI in Punjab Assembly and National Assembly. However, no party official confirmed it yet.
To get a simple majority, support of 149 MPAs is needed out of 297 members to form government in Punjab. However, Imran Khan’s party won on 123 Punjab Assembly seats and required the support of 26 more MPAs for majority.
PML-Q and independent candidates will play the crucial role in the formation of new government in Punjab. Initially, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s name was circulating as the new Chief Minister for Punjab. However, PTI later revealed that the new Chief Minister will be from their party.
