ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ( PTI ) has called for a meeting for its parliamentary members today.
The meeting’s agendas are said to be discussion on the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). Another topic of the discussion for the meeting is said to be Nawaz Sharif’s Controversial Statements. PTI Chairman, Imran Khan will preside over the meeting. PTI members of the National Assembly and Senate are going to be attending this meeting.
The merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas in KP would extend the jurisdiction of Supreme Court and Peshawar High Court to the tribal areas. Federal government has agreed to approve a constitutional amendment that would serve as a means for merger.
The issue of the controversial statement by the former premiere Nawaz Sharif is also to be discussed. Nawaz Sharif had alleged Pakistan’s involvement in the 2008 Mumbai Attacks in a statement to local news outlet. The news was being manipulated and blown up by Indian news media.
The statement had been condemned by all the party leaders. Even Shehbaz Sharif, President PML-N, said Nawaz Sharif’s narrative is not party’s policy. He said that Pakistan has done its utmost best in the fight against terror and would never be part of it.
A meeting of the National Security Council was also called which unanimously condemned the statement. They also denied Pakistan’s involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks.
After the NSC meeting, PM Abbasi had called a meeting with Nawaz Sharif at Punjab House. After the meeting PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had said media had misreported Nawaz Sharif’s statement.
