Lahore is on high alert today as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called for a protest at Minar-e-Pakistan Ground. To handle the situation, authorities have placed containers at various key points across the city, which is already causing quite a bit of disruption.
Major entry points like Babu Sabu Interchange, Thokar Niaz Baig, and the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway are also blocked by containers, which means travelers are finding it hard to get in or out. The Babu Sabu Interchange has been completely closed, and no vehicles are being allowed to enter the motorway from Thokar Niaz Baig.
Containers have also been placed on roads leading to the railway station, Minar-e-Pakistan, and Lari Adda, making it harder for locals to move around freely.
Similarly, military troops have been deployed in Islamabad under Article 245 of the Constitution. This step was taken to ensure security for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. The Ministry of Interior gave the orders, and army personnel have taken control of security in the federal capital. Patrols are already in place to maintain peace, and authorities have warned that no one will be allowed to disrupt the situation.
With the SCO summit approaching, the army will stay deployed in Islamabad until October 17. It’s all part of the effort to maintain law and order during this crucial time.
