Islamabad: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) gave exemption to Prime Minister Imran Khan in PTV, Parliament Attack Cases.
PM Imran Khan got permanent exemption before appearing in PTV, Parliament Attack Cases. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jehangir Tareen, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and other party leaders’ exemption requests were accepted by ATC. Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi, ATC Judge, summoned all accused in the cases on Tuesday (today).
Babar Awan, Imran Khan’s counsel, appeared before the ATC on his behalf. However, he submitted the plea for Imran Khan’s permanent exemption from PTV, Parliament Attack Cases. He argued that if there is more than accused in a case than the suspects can be exempted from appearing.
However, prosecutor remarked that they have no reservations in granting Prime Minister Imran Khan’s exemption. Later, Babar Awan submitted affidavit on the behalf of Imran Khan.
Imran Khan, Arif Alvi, Asad Umar, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and others are accused of attacking PTV office and Parliament during the 2014 sit-in. Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and PTI leaders were inducted after they marched towards PM House and Parliament.
