A public holiday has been declared for tomorrow, December 5, in the Sheikhupura district of Punjab, in connection with the by-election for the Punjab Assembly constituency PP-139 Ferozewala. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has scheduled the by-election to fill the seat that was left vacant following the death of Rana Afzal Hussain.
The Deputy Commissioner’s Office issued the notification for the public holiday, ensuring that government offices, schools, and other official services in the district will remain closed to facilitate the election process.
Shahid Imran Marth, the Deputy Commissioner of Sheikhupura, has been appointed as the District Returning Officer for the by-election, with Usman Jalees, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), serving as the Returning Officer. Muhammad Adeel Khan, Assistant Commissioner of Ferozewala, and Rana Bakhtiar Ahmad, Deputy District Education Officer of Ferozewala, will act as Assistant Returning Officers.
This by-election in PP-139 Ferozewala is vital to maintain the democratic process in the region. The public holiday ensures that citizens can participate in the voting process without any hindrance.
