The Government of Sindh has announced a public holiday on August 20 to honor the annual Urs of the esteemed Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai. This holiday, confirmed through an official notification on Friday, will be observed throughout the province.
The Urs celebrations, held every year at the shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai in Bhit Shah, will begin on 14 Safar according to the Islamic calendar. This three-day event is both a spiritual occasion and a cultural festival that attracts large crowds to Bhit Shah.
During the Urs, visitors can expect a variety of activities including recitations of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s poetry, traditional Sufi music, and cultural performances that highlight Sindh’s rich heritage. This celebration not only honors the poet’s legacy but also brings the community together to appreciate their cultural roots.
