Public Holidays in Pakistan 2025 – Full Update on Upcoming Holidays After Eid

People across Pakistan are finally back to work after enjoying a well-deserved Eid-ul-Fitr break. The three-day public holiday from 31st March to 2nd April 2025 gave everyone a chance to relax and celebrate with loved ones. But now, schools, colleges, and offices have reopened across the country.

Although schools are open, attendance is still quite low, especially from students. Most schools are expecting full attendance to return from Monday, 7th April.

Government Announces Public and Optional Holidays for 2025

The Government of Pakistan has officially released the notification for all public holidays in Pakistan 2025, including optional holidays for religious minorities. The notification outlines holidays that will be observed nationwide based on major events, religious occasions, and historical significance.

If you’re wondering whether there are any more holidays this month — sorry to disappoint, but April 2025 has no public holidays according to the official calendar. But don’t worry, May 2025 is coming with two important ones!

May 2025 Holidays in Pakistan: Labour Day & Youm-e-Takbeer

Here’s what you can look forward to in May:

  • 1st May 2025 (Thursday): Labour Day – A public holiday to honor the working class and their contributions.
  • 28th May 2025 (Wednesday): Youm-e-Takbeer – This day marks Pakistan’s historic nuclear tests conducted on 28 May 1998, which made Pakistan the seventh nuclear power in the world and the first Muslim country to achieve this status for peaceful deterrence.

Youm-e-Takbeer 2025 is not just a holiday, it’s a reminder of Pakistan’s strength and resilience. It reflects the bold leadership of former Prime Ministers Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, who played a major role in making Pakistan a nuclear state despite international pressure.

Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar: Public Holiday in February

Earlier this year, the government also announced a holiday on 17th February 2025 to commemorate the Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, a significant spiritual event observed mainly in Sindh.

If you’re planning your year ahead or organizing school/work schedules, it’s important to keep track of the public holidays in Pakistan 2025. While April is quiet, May is giving us two mid-week breaks — perfect for short trips or family time.
