Punjab Announces New Fish Farms and First Fish Market to Grow Aqua Sector

Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb shared new plans for the aquaculture sector during her address in Lahore. She said the government will build six new fish farms. She explained the project as a long-term step to support farmers and grow the sector.

She spoke about the potential in aquaculture. She said the government will give full support to local farmers. She added that the sector can drive economic growth, so the province wants to expand it with new projects and trained teams.

She also discussed ongoing work. She said the government is working on issues that farmers face. The focus is to improve production and create stable markets. She said Punjab has worked in this sector for years and continues to expand its coverage.

She said a feasibility study for 26,000 acres is in process. She added that this study will set the direction for new farms and better planning. She said the government invited global experts who guided the provincial teams on modern methods.

Maryam Aurangzeb said work has started on Punjab’s first fish market. She said the market will help farmers sell products easily and improve supply chains. She said the sector needs organized markets to grow with consistency.

The government aims to build these farms, complete the feasibility study, and open the fish market. She said the province will continue to share updates as the project moves to its next stages.
