Punjab Driving License Fees Set to Hike Up to 788.89%

The Punjab Police has put forward a bold proposal to dramatically increase driving license fees in an effort to boost revenue and enhance road safety in the province. If approved, this move could have a substantial financial impact on drivers in Punjab, affecting their wallets and road safety measures.

New Driving License Fees (Proposed):

Under the proposed plan, obtaining a motorcycle license would witness an astonishing 263.64% surge, with fees skyrocketing from Rs. 550 to a staggering Rs. 2,000. Similarly, those aiming for an LTV license would face a massive 321.05% increase, with fees rising from Rs. 950 to Rs. 4,000.

HTV Driving License Fees (Proposed):

The proposal doesn’t spare aspiring HTV license holders either. Fees for these licenses are set to undergo an astounding 788.89% hike, soaring from Rs. 450 to Rs. 4,000. This significant change may have substantial implications for commercial drivers and businesses relying on heavy vehicles.

Learner License Fees (Proposed):

Aspiring drivers seeking to obtain a learner license may face a considerable cost increase. The proposed fee for a learner license is expected to jump from the current Rs. 60 to Rs. 500, showcasing an astonishing percentage change of 733.33%.

International Driving License Fees (Proposed):

International Driving License seekers won’t be spared from the impact either. If the proposal is approved, obtaining an International Driving License would come with a fee of Rs. 4,000, reflecting a noteworthy percentage increase from the existing amount.

Old Driving License Fees (Current):

Before the proposed changes take effect, the current fees for driving licenses in Punjab are as follows:

  • Motorcycle License: Rs. 550
  • LTV License: Rs. 950
  • HTV License: Rs. 450
  • Learner License: Rs. 60
  • International Driving License: Current fee not specified

Awaiting Government Decision:

The fate of the proposed driving license fee hike now lies in the hands of the provincial government. Should the proposal get the green light, Punjab drivers will need to brace themselves for a significant financial impact when obtaining or renewing their licenses. The potential changes could also have implications for road safety measures in the province.
