Punjab Motorways Closed: Check Which Roads Are Affected

Dense fog in Punjab has compelled to close several parts of motorways, including M-2, M-3, M-4, M-5 and M-11. Citizens should not travel unnecessarily as advised by Motorway Police. National highways are not very visible and, therefore, morning and evening driving is also unsafe. When driving in the fog, drivers are to adhere to safety precautions.

Punjab Motorways Closed Due to Fog

Heavy fog covered Punjab on December 15, 2025. Key motorways remain closed to prevent accidents. Officials from the Motorway Police confirmed the shutdowns.

M-2 is closed from Thokar Niaz Baig to Hiran Minar. M-3 from Darkhana to Faizpur is also blocked. M-4 from Pindi Bhattian to Abdul Hakim and M-5 from Zahir Pir to Sher Shah are inaccessible. M-11 from Lahore Main Toll Plaza to Sambrial is shut as well.

The heavy fog has slowed down traffic in the national highways. The visibility of roads such as Manga Mandi, Phool Nagar, Pattoki, Chichawatni and Mian Channu is poor. These areas provide difficulties to the drivers.

Motorway Police encourage commuters to be sparse in unnecessary travelling. Motorists are supposed to use fog lights, maintain safe distances and lanes discipline. Travelling during the day (between 10 am and 6 pm) is safer. Drivers are able to make calls to the NHMP call centre 130 to get real time updates.

Fog is expected to persist in early mornings and nights. Temperature inversion and stagnant air are worsening visibility. Poor air quality affects Lahore, Faisalabad, and surrounding cities. Authorities advise citizens to stay updated on traffic and weather alerts.

Travelers should plan routes carefully. Check motorway updates before departure. Follow safety guidelines and avoid driving in heavy fog if not necessary.
