In a landmark move, Punjab’s Food Minister, Bilal Yasin, has announced a significant reduction in flour prices, marking a historic low in the country’s pricing history. This initiative is part of the government’s broader mission to make high-quality food affordable for all, a goal that is being pursued in collaboration with various stakeholders.
The minister shared this news during a meeting with the Naan-Roti Association, a key stakeholder in the food industry. The association, led by its President, Aftab Gill, agreed to align with the government’s directive and sell roti at a uniform price of Rs.15 across Punjab.
This decision comes after successful negotiations between the government and the association, aiming to ensure the sale of naan and roti at government-notified prices at all tandoors across Punjab.
The minister highlighted the success of their mission to reduce flour prices, with a significant decrease observed last month. The price of a 20 kg flour bag dropped by Rs1,000 to Rs1,200, while a 10 kg bag saw a reduction of Rs500 to Rs600.
Echoing the minister’s sentiments, Aftab Gill, in a video message, appreciated the government’s efforts in providing relief in flour prices. He assured his cooperation and commitment to selling roti for Rs.15 across Punjab, in line with the government’s directive.
This initiative marks a significant step towards achieving the government’s goal of providing affordable, high-quality food to the people of Punjab.
