In a significant move towards sustainable urban mobility, Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given the green light for the acquisition of 657 eco-friendly buses. This decision, aimed at facilitating commuters in the province’s major cities, was made during a meeting presided over by the Chief Minister herself.
The meeting served as a platform to discuss the province’s transportation project, which includes the introduction of 20,000 electric bikes and 657 green buses in urban areas. The project is set to kick off on May 9, as informed to the Chief Minister by the officials present.
Maryam Nawaz, the first woman Chief Minister of Punjab, expressed her cognizance of the challenges faced by the province’s residents. She emphasized that addressing these issues is the primary focus of her administration.
Earlier this month, the Chief Minister initiated the “Sarkein Bahaal Punjab Khushhal” project. This initiative aims at the restoration of all inter and intra-district roads, contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of Punjab’s people.
Maryam Nawaz stressed that within six months, no road in Punjab should remain in disrepair. She insisted on the prompt completion of the repair and rehabilitation work, without any compromise on the quality.
