As Eid ul-Adha approaches, Karachi’s Meat Merchants Association has announced the official rates for animal slaughtering services. According to the association, the cost for slaughtering a cow on the first day of Eid will be Rs20,000, while sacrificing a goat will cost Rs10,000. For those choosing to slaughter a camel, the fee is set at Rs40,000.
Nadeem Qureshi, a representative of the Meat Merchants Association, mentioned that the rates for the second and third days of Eid will be significantly reduced, dropping to nearly half of the initial day’s prices.
Moon Sighting for Zil Hajj and Eid ul-Adha Date
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold a meeting tomorrow (Friday) to sight the Zil Hajj moon, according to Radio Pakistan. Eid ul-Adha is anticipated to fall on June 17 (Monday), although the precise date will be confirmed following the Zil Hajj moon sighting. The MET office has stated that if the month of Zilqad in Pakistan consists of 29 days, the month of Zil Hajj will begin on June 8, leading to Eid ul-Adha 2024 being celebrated on June 17.
Preparation of Cattle Markets in Karachi
In preparation for Eid ul-Adha 2024, Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi has announced the establishment of 22 cattle markets across seven districts of Karachi. According to an official statement, seven of these markets will be within the city limits, and 15 will be in the town limits.
This move is part of the city’s efforts to accommodate the large influx of animals and buyers during the Eid ul-Adha festivities, ensuring that citizens have accessible locations to purchase sacrificial animals.
