In a significant move towards enhancing road safety, the Punjab government has taken a decisive step to regulate the use of Qingqi motorcycles in the region. Caretaker Punjab Minister for Transport, Ibrahim Hassan Murad, announced the government’s decision to implement a ban on unapproved motorcycle and loader rickshaws.
In a press release issued on Saturday, Minister Murad emphasized the need for this action, citing the 30-day warning given to Qingqi rickshaw operators. The crackdown aims to curb the operation of illegal motorcycle and loader rickshaws that have not received approval from the transport department.
The first phase of the initiative will focus on banning unapproved rickshaws in major cities, with a subsequent operation planned for smaller cities and rural areas in the second phase. Minister Murad underlined the government’s commitment to ensuring road safety and reducing traffic-related incidents by addressing the unauthorized use of Qingqi rickshaws.
Furthermore, the government has declared its intention to prohibit the local manufacturing of Qingqi rickshaws in the future. This step aims to streamline the industry, with the implementation of regulations for rickshaw manufacturing companies. The move also involves the mandatory registration of Qingqi rickshaws to better monitor and manage their operations.
This proactive measure by the Punjab government reflects its dedication to creating a safer and more organized transportation system. By taking firm steps to regulate the use and manufacturing of Qingqi rickshaws, the government aims to improve road safety standards and ensure a smoother traffic flow in both urban and rural areas.
