Quaid-e-Azam Day 2025: Pakistan Celebrates Jinnah’s 149th Birthday

Pakistan is celebrating the 149th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, on December 25, 2025. The day start with a traditional 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and 21-gun salutes in all provincial capitals.

Public Holiday in Pakistan and State Bank Notification

The Government of Pakistan has officially announced that the 25th of December is a national public holiday. A notification of the Ministry of Interior indicates that all government offices, education institutions, and the private sector remain closed. Also, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) affirmed that all commercial banks will have a bank holiday on this date.

25th December Ceremonies and Events

The main event will take place at the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi. A graceful Change of Guard ceremony scheduled for the morning, where cadets from the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul will take over guard duties.

• Flag Hoisting: The hoisting of the national flag will take place in every major government building.
• Seminars: Radio Pakistan and PTV will also have special programs to emphasize on the vision of Jinnah of a democratic state.
• Dual Celebration: December 25 is also Christmas and the government has declared an extra holiday on December 26 particularly to the Christian community in Punjab and Sindh so that they could carry on with the celebrations.

The country has been encouraged by political leaders to observe the golden principle of Quaid which are Unity, Faith and Discipline. The festivals this year will center on interfaith harmony because ceremonies in the country unite people to not only mark the legacy of the Quaid but also the Christmas spirit.
