Rain Alert in Karachi: Sindh Government’s Preparations Complete

With the looming threat of heavy rainfall across Sindh, including Karachi, from today until August 31, the Sindh government has announced that all necessary preparations are in place to handle the situation effectively. Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has assured the public that the administration is ready to tackle any challenges that may arise due to the expected heavy downpour.

Rain Emergency Cell Activated at Chief Minister’s House

Speaking to the media in Karachi, Sharjeel Memon revealed that a Rain Emergency Cell has established at the Chief Minister’s House. This cell will coordinate all efforts and ensure prompt responses to any emergencies that occur due to the rain.

Fishermen Advised to Stay Ashore

In light of the forecasted heavy rain and the potential for rough seas, the Sindh government has issued a warning to fishermen, advising them not to venture into the sea. The minister highlighted the risk of high tides, which could pose a serious threat to those at sea during this period.

Improved Drainage Systems in Place

To mitigate the risk of urban flooding, particularly in Karachi, the government has provided necessary machinery to various town administrations for efficient drainage. Sharjeel Memon emphasized that the drainage systems managed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the Water Board have enhanced to cope with the expected heavy rainfall.

Heavy Rainfall Expected Until August 31

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for Karachi and other parts of Sindh, predicting intense rainfall from August 27 to August 31, 2024. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions and stay updated on the latest weather forecasts.
