Rawalpindi and Islamabad are set to face significant disruptions as all educational activities, exams, and transport services are being suspended from Friday, November 22, to Monday, November 25, 2024. The decision comes amidst ongoing road closures and security concerns in the twin cities.
According to an official notification, Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) transport services will remain halted during this period. Additionally, all scheduled exams and educational activities will be postponed. The notification further clarified that exams will resume at least three days after the roads reopen, giving students ample time to prepare for the new schedule.
Road Closures and Security Arrangements
The temporary suspension of activities is linked to ongoing protests organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Authorities have ramped up preparations to manage the situation, including fitness evaluations and duty assignments for police personnel.
A special event was held at the police lines, where officials from 27 police stations participated in fitness and performance assessments. SHO Shah Nawaz Dogar from Golra Police Station emerged as the top performer, securing first place in the competition. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Ali Raza awarded Dogar a cash prize of PKR 20,000. Second and third-place winners also received cash prizes for their performance.
Impact on Students and Residents
The suspension of educational activities and exams is likely to affect thousands of students across the region. Authorities have assured that updates regarding exam rescheduling and transport restoration will be communicated promptly.
Residents and commuters are advised to stay informed about road closures and alternate routes during these dates. The situation highlights the importance of timely coordination between educational institutions, law enforcement, and the general public.
