KARACHI: A meeting of Ruet-e-Hilal committee has been organized for May 16 as the moon for Ramadan is expected to be sighted on that day.
The meeting of the main committee in Karachi will be chaired by chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman. While provincial and zonal committee meetings have also been called for the reason of sighting for moon of Ramadan.
The Ruet-e-Hilal committee will be receiving evidence from witnesses all over the country. The zonal and provincial committees will also do the same and then pass on the reports to the central committee. Mufti Rehman after hearing the reports will then make the announcement of the sighting of the Ramazan moon.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has said Ramazan’s moon will be born on May 15 at 4:49pm. According to the Met office’s calculations the age of the new moon will be 26 hours and 45 minutes when it will be sighted. The moon will be visible for only 61 minutes after sunset on May 16.
