SC allowed overseas Pakistanis to cast vote in by-elections

Supreme Court of Pakistan permitted Pakistanis living abroad to vote in October’s by-elections.

SC Chief Justice Saqib Nisar allowed overseas Pakistanis to cast vote in by-elections. However, by-elections in Pakistan will be held on October 14.

The court took the decision on the petition of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Imran Khan and others. CJP Saqib Nisar ordered Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to make required arrangements so overseas Pakistanis can easily cast vote.

CJP Saqib Nisar elaborated that overseas Pakistanis will participate in by-elections through i-voting. However, it is a system that allows voters to cast vote from a computer with an internet connection. Saqib Nisar further added that in case of any conflict, votes cast through i-voting will be separated.

PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry congratulated overseas Pakistanis and considered it a long struggle of his party chief Imran Khan. Here is his tweet:

By-elections will be held on 19 provincial assembly and 11 National Assembly seats. NA-35, NA-53, NA-60, NA-63, NA-65, NA-69, NA-103, NA-124, NA-131 and NA-243 are the National Assembly constituencies.
