SC dismissed petition against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s NA-57 candidacy

The Supreme Court dismissed the petition against former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi today. However, a petitioner challenged his candidacy for NA-57 Rawalpindi for Pakistan Election 2018.

Supreme Court rejected the petition and allowed Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to contest Pakistan Election 2018 from NA-57 Rawalpindi.

Earlier, LHC dismissed the decision of appellate tribunal for the lifetime disqualification of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The court allowed him to contest elections from NA-57.

NA-57 RO appeared before the Lahore High Court (LHC) for the hearing of Shahid Khaqan’s petition. The election tribunal found him guilty for the misrepresentation of facts in the General Election 2018 nomination forms. Earlier, Masood Ahmed Abbasi, filed a petition against the PML-N leader. However, Shahid Khaqan then disqualified from contesting the General Election 2018 from NA-57.

In addition, LHC later overturned the decision of appellate tribunal. It allowed him to contest upcoming election from NA-57 on the interim basis.
