Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar gave six week extension for concluding remaining cases against Sharifs.

Supreme Court ordered six week extension today in the deadline to conclude remaining cases against Sharifs. However, Nawaz Sharif and his family members are facing Flagship Investment and Al-Azizia references.

A three member bench headed by CJP Saqib Nisar, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, and Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the Accountability Court II Judge Mohammad Arshad Malik’s petition. Earlier, Judge Malik requested Supreme Court to give extension for concluding remaining cases against Sharifs.

As the hearing went under way, the CJP requested to be informed on the foundation of the case. He said that till date he has not appreciated this case or what the issue is.

Nawaz Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Harris informed the Supreme Court and asked for the extension till December 15 to finish up the remaining two cases.

However, CJP Saqib Nisar said that they cannot grant such long extension. He further added that they do not want to interfere in the trial by Accountability Court. He later granted a six week extension.
