The Supreme Court will hear a suo-motu notice of the transfer of Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal due to alleged altercation with Khawar Maneka on Friday.
A three-member bench of the Supreme court chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will hear the suo motu case.
Supreme court has summoned Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal, Inspector General Punjab Police and the Regional Police Officer in personal capacity. Moreover, an inquiry officer has also been summoned along with his report on the matter.
The investigation report on suo-motu case has also been forwarded to IG Punjab. According to the inquiry report, Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal was responsible for not conducting an inquiry against officers who misbehaved with Khawar Maneka.
The inquiry report also stated that Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal ‘twisted’ the entire matter and made it public on social media.
Reports of Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal’s transfer sparked a controversy earlier this week. The speculation suggested that the police officer was transferred because of the August 23 altercation between the police and Khawar Maneka.
According to inquiry reports, police personnel under Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal’s watch tried to stop ex- husband of Bushra Bibi, Khawar Maneka at a checkpoint for speeding but he did corporated and did not stop. The police then chased his vehicle and managed to intercept him.
Soon after the reports, IG Punjab, denied that Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal was transferred under any pressure. He said it was done due to his misleading statements about misbehaviour by police personnel with a citizen.
