The Ministry of Federal Education or Professional Training announced the decision regarding schools closure in Pakistan. Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Minister for Education, chaired the meeting.
As per the statement, the provincial ministers discussed the forum about the current situation of Coronavirus and its impact on the education sector.
However, no decision made regarding the closure of schools and the IPEMC or Inter-Provincial Education Ministers’ Conference will meet again on 23rd November to review the situation.
Dr Murad Ras, the Punjab Minister for School Education said that “No decision made on closure of schools in Punjab today. Next meeting will be on Monday 23rd November, 2020 for further review of the COVID 19 situation. All options are being discussed. No immediate decision for now.”
It is noted that the today’s meeting was called last week after the recommendation of NCOC and the National Command and Operations Centre to announce the early and extended school vacations in winter due to the growing positivity rate in the educational institutes.
On the other side, the second wave of Coronavirus in Pakistan is gripping the country as over 2,000 cases are reporting on a daily basis.
