Section 144 Enforced in Rawalpindi Amid PTI Protest on 24 November 2024

Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema has enforced Section 144 in Rawalpindi, restricting public gatherings until November 26. This decision comes as the city braces for potential unrest following PTI’s call for protests on November 24.

The directive was issued after a district intelligence committee meeting, where officials reviewed evidence of possible disruptions near Adiala Jail and other areas. The authorities expressed concerns over threats of unrest, extremism, and terrorism, prompting the precautionary measure.

Under the order, public gatherings, rallies, and assemblies of more than four people are prohibited across the district. The restriction aims to maintain law and order during a sensitive time, with the government closely monitoring the situation.

This move coincides with the ongoing detention of PTI founder Imran Khan, who has urged his supporters to take to the streets in protest. With the political climate already charged, the administration is focused on preventing any escalation.

Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate and avoid unnecessary gatherings to ensure peace and safety. While the situation remains tense, the measures highlight the administration’s efforts to stay ahead of any potential challenges.

As the November 24 protest date nears, all eyes are on Rawalpindi, with hopes for a peaceful resolution to the heightened tensions.
