Section 144 in Murree: Families Allowed on Mall Road, Bachelors Diverted

Section 144 imposed in Murree before New Year’s Eve 2026 to control the traffic of tourists and provide safety. The Mall Road access is limited to only families as a snowfall warning is shared and the complete road safety is enforced as visitors plan New Year night in Murree.

As New Year’s Eve approaches, Murree has moved early to manage crowds and safety. The local administration imposed Section 144 in Murree for the next two days. The rule allows only families to enter Mall Road. Bachelor tourists can still visit other areas across the hill station.

This move aims to keep Mall Road calm during peak hours. The DPO Murree confirmed the decision focuses on family safety during new year night in Murree, when footfall usually spikes.

Today Weather of Murree

At the same time, today weather updates point to possible snowfall. The Punjab Highway Department issued a snowfall alert for Murree and the Galiyat. Provincial Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth directed teams to stay on full alert. Crews will keep snow-clearing machines active day and night.

Authorities have stocked 29,000 salt bags. They have also set up salt camps at several locations. Murree now has two main salt camps to keep roads open during snow. Officials said they will sprinkle salt on roads in real time to avoid skidding.

The minister also confirmed 13 facilitation centers across Murree. These centers will guide tourists, manage traffic, and respond to emergencies during new year’s eve. He said traffic flow will remain active on Murree and Galiyat roads in all conditions.
